If you have looked at an October flyer, you have seen them: no 2-step, no voceteo, no chillar goma. These car meet rules in Puerto Rico repeat from Isabela to Caguas, and they are not there for decoration. This guide explains what each one means, with examples from real listings on Puerto Rico Racing events. We do not invent fines or penalties: only what the organizers say.
Every meet sets its own rules. Before you go, read the whole flyer and the event listing. If in doubt, ask the organizer.
The three rules you see most
- Street Diamonds Reunión (Coliseo de Isabela, October 8): "no voceteo, no 2step, no chillar goma".
- Car Meet Las Catalinas (O'Reilly Auto Parts, Caguas, Sunday, October 18): "no voceteo, no 2-step, no chillaera".
- Pa matar la fiebre meet (old Sam's at Los Colobos, Carolina, Friday, October 16): "no step, no chillar goma. Cuidemos el spot".
"No 2-step"
A 2-step is a launch rev limiter used to start at the track. With the car stopped, the engine holds a set RPM and pops, sometimes with flames from the exhaust. In a parking lot that means loud noise, smoke, and startled people nearby, which is why almost every street meet bans it.
"No voceteo"
Voceteo means revving the engine in neutral so it sounds off. It is the rule that changes most from meet to meet. Street Diamonds and Las Catalinas ban it, but the Car Meet San Juan on November 1 says in its listing: "Voceteo se permite" (revving allowed). That is why you read every flyer.
"No chillar goma" (or "no chillaera")
Chillar goma means burnouts: smoke and tire marks on the ground. Those marks stay in the lot of the business that lent the spot. It is the most repeated rule on October flyers.
Other rules you will see
- "Cuidemos el spot" and "No seas el ridículo" (take care of the spot; don't be that guy): from Pa matar la fiebre.
- "Por favor botar la basura" (please throw away your trash): Car Meet San Juan.
- "No neveras" and "car audio moderado" (no coolers, moderate car audio): El Gran Junte Car Show 2 (Sunday, November 22, Hacienda El Negro, Toa Alta), plus no 2 step and no burnouts.
- "Evento familiar. Respeta." (family event, be respectful): the Las Catalinas listing. A family meet means kids walking between the cars.
So why is there 2-step at THE PURGE?
Because it is at a track. THE PURGE: Drag Meet Night (Saturday, October 31, Arecibo Motorsport) lists car audio, 2-step, and Top 50 as part of the vibe. At a controlled track it is part of the show; in a business parking lot it is not. See our THE PURGE spectator guide.
How to follow the rules without stress
- Read the whole flyer, not just the date. Rules are usually at the bottom. Here is how to read a racing event flyer.
- Enter and leave slowly. The exit is part of the meet too.
- Take your trash with you, even if the flyer does not say so.
- If someone breaks the rules, do not film it to cheer them on. That video can cost everyone the spot.
- If you are unsure, ask the organizer on Instagram before you go.
